Guest guest
Shari: If you have to visit your family, then.... What I usually do is take all my own food. I usually stay a week, so that is a week of food that will survive having been processed, in a " cold carrier " for up to 6 hours, then live in a refrigerator until I eat it. I make enough to offer my family. My family is used to me -- once, when I was not working, they suddenly announced a week at the beach, but I happened to be on the Master Cleanser, and, after 4 days, was not about to quit! My family makes salads, so I can eat those. The food I make can be offered around, and included in what the others eat. My mom is a little offended, perhaps, since I will not eat her fabulous concoctions, but, then, she was unsympathetic for years when I became a vegetarian. Since I have the illustrious position of family black sheep, they get over these things. Even if you are not the family black sheep, if you do not sit around going " No, thanks on the beef bourgignon! I am a raw vegan, which means that I do not depend on dead and decaying animal flesh for my sustenance, moreover, I do not eat vegetables or fruit which have been cooked because that is also decaying matter " , you will probably do okay. The problem comes when you try to sell them. Have you ever talked to one of the missionaries who come to your door? (okay, if you are one of the missionaries who come to my door, I apologize, but it is a good example)... if someone wants to sell you this or that, particularly if *they* know they are right, well, most often, you do not want to listen. Take your own advice. Good luck Margaret Shari wrote: I have to go to the family party this weekend. it looks like I can get away with Saturday to Sunday morning! YES! Like most families, my in laws don't know how to have a party without all the " party " foods. Except most of them look like they party everyday and I used to be one of them. My husband and I have been told we are not to talk about our food or our life style unless asked and then to keep it brief. They know they know, they just don't want to be responsible. Guest guest
Oh, that's a given that I take food, always do. And heaven forbid if we forget a piece of fruit or veg. My mother in law keeps it until we get there the next time!! Honest, even if it's a month, she has it in the fridge still waiting for us! I am just projecting to the temptations that will be laid out on the table. My plan is to take the lifeguarding duties during the food time. It's supposed to be in the 90's (which is unheard of for our area) and that will put all the kids in the water most of the day! I'm also working EFT and it seemed to help tonight when my husband fixed dinner for his auntie who is visiting from Arizona. The kids even showed up for baked potato, salad and shrimp in garlic. It turned out okay. Also, instead of going on Friday and have to be there until Sunday, I'm not going until Saturday. Boychild is going with husband/dad on Friday and girlchild has to work until 4 a.m. Saturday. I'll drive down while she sleeps. It is a 3 hour drive so we'll get there just in time to do the breakfast dance. My father in law loves to do breakfast for everyone, about 15 of us in the mornings. Hopefully I can get lost in the shuffle because he is very hard to say no to and doesn't understand. I have really hurt his feelings before when refusing his breakfast. He's about 86 now and still very vibrant so I can't use the excuse of how decrepit he is because it is very clear he is not. And he's been living on cooked food his entire life! Everything will work out the way it's supposed to. Shari
