Pl draft an action alert and put on the egroup. They want to make Agra a

no-animal zone. They want no street dogs, no monkeys around. No Life basically.*

We are given to understand that monkeys in Agra are in trouble. As of last

week more than 350 monkeys were caught and relocated in a desert area where

they have neither food nor water. it is so hot in Agra that even rivers are

dry. There are estimated 10,000 Monkeys in agra (this was told to me by

Mukesh Jain, Financer of relocation). All will be sent to sure death by

starvation if we do not have a solution.

 

I need to know

 

 

1. Is it right to sterilise monkeys. If yes, Can monkeys be sterilised? If yes,

then who can do it or does it? How much does it cost? What is the training

period.

 

2. If it is not right to sterilise, then where can they be rehabilitated? People

are not willing to tolerate and co-exist with them.

 

3. Can any sanctuary be created? How many acres? What would be the cost? Where

could it be located? How many years it may take to create one?

 

There is a local person at agra, Ironically one Mr. Mukesh Jain, who is

financing the project of shifting Monkeys from town of AGRA we are told.

 

The action alert should address letters to the following against relocation of

monkeys and other animals.

 

1. Commissioner Agra municipality

2. DC Agra

 

You could add points that it is good that Taj has been chosen as wonder.
