Guest guest
This is terrible! Let us know what can we do to help the dogs. It's outrageous that the court allowed the killing to go on. Guest guest
I think by now the message from Indian Authorities is pretty clear whether it is the Judiciary or the retired Judges who head Indian Human Rights Commissions, Municipalities etc that " DOGS WILL DIE, THEY HAVE TO DIE, BECAUSE MAN IS THE SUPREME, ABC, STERILISATIONS ETC DO NOT CARRY ANY MEANING " . Few days back this is what was heard on NDTV television channel: " That will not solve the problem. You cannot say if it is free of rabies, the dog can bite. When human rights and animal rights are in contention, human rights will have to take precedence " - Justice B Subhashan Reddy, Chairperson, APSHRC Check link: http://www.ndtv.com/convergence/ndtv/story.aspx?id=NEWEN20070008387 Now how we fight these wretched humans collectively is something one should work on. Mere petitions, rallies, road shows, signature campaigns will only see more and more destitute Dogs being wiped of from our cities. Thank you Avis for speaking out. Guest guest
Dear All I have been overwhelmed with the support we have had from everybody. I am still trying to come to terms with the court's decisions and feel very ill from the stress of the whole thing ( after all I am in my 60's !). Thank you all so much for your support , I only hope that together we can help the dogs of Trivandrum. I will personally get back to everybody who has contacted me within the next few days. Guest guest
Dear Avis, I have been reading your postings all this time amd I was also wondering why you have to fight your battle all alone. I remember having heard Maneka Gandhi discussing the Kerala Problem with various people in Chennai during the AfA... but for her do something probably you need a sufficient base in Kerala. Bangalore has three groups and these are not small ones, the support they got from all over India and abroad alone would not have done anything, if on the spot there would have been no solid base. As you say, that you don't see many people, who care for animals around, I understand what the problem is, because it's the same here, very few dedicated animal-lovers are doing all the work, which is going on in Sri Lanka. We witnessed our sterilised dogs being killed (360 in 5 days) almost two years ago... the court case about this is still pending. So I definitely know how you are feeling right now... and Clemetine too... you must have read her mail today. I hope your today's outcry will make the innocents' voices heard and at least we can start a letter-campaign to the press etc, but more than that I hope you can inspire some more people in Kerala itself. Wish you all the possible strength and support Regards Padma - avis lyons aapn Sunday, April 15, 2007 11:25 AM The voices of the innocent go unheard!! avis lyons <iarkerala wrote: Dear aapn members With horror I have followed the anti-dog campaign in Bangalore , but my faith in humans has been restored a little as I have been receiving the emails sent back and forth to try to bring an end to the attrocities.
