Guest guest
Network for Animals PLEASE HELP ME END TERRIBLE CRUELTY TO ANIMALS IN THE PHILIPPINES Let me explain why I am asking for your assistance at this time. You see, NETWORK for ANIMALS is tasked with enforcing laws outlawing the slaughter of dogs for human consumption in the Philippines. As you progress through this web site you will see what we have accomplished so far. What has become clear, however, is that new, strongly punitive laws are needed. Continuing our unrelenting effort to end appalling suffering we have proposed to the Senate Agricultural Committee an amendment to The Philippine Animal Welfare Act. This amendment includes sharply increased fines and jail terms for convicted offenders and, crucially, mandates the confiscation by the government of vehicles used to transport the dogs. If these vital new laws are passed, first in committee and then by parliament, it will crush the economic viability of an evil business. But we have run into a political roadblock. Our friends in Manila tell me that we must generate an outcry in support of our proposals both internationally and within the Philippines, before legislators will act. Generating a massive outpouring of criticism of the weak laws that currently lead to the continuance of one of the most brutal of animal cruelties needs the support of people like you. Individuals who, like me, look at the pictures of suffering animals and really feel their pain. In another life, as founder of the International Fund for Animal Welfare, I took on the seemingly impossible challenge of ending the annual clubbing of tens-of-thousands of white coated, nursing baby seals in Canada. It took nineteen years but with good and kind people like you by my side we did it. I promise to give the same commitment to the dogs of the Philippines for all the years I have left to me. For the sake of dogs that shudder with a terrible fear as they await their turn for death in illegal slaughterhouses, I am begging you to support this crusade against cruelty by making a donation at this time. As well, to demonstrate growing international outrage, please email our message<http://www.networkforanimals.org/protest.htm> to the Philippine ambassadors included in this web site. http://www.networkforanimals.org/home.htm<about:blank> Brian Davies Founder - NETWORK for ANIMALS P.S. What would be hugely helpful in the context of forward planning for our international campaign of awareness of this issue would be a small monthly donation<http://www.networkforanimals.org/donate.htm> to NETWORK for ANIMALS via a Standing Order. Two or three pounds or more if you can afford it would really help.
