Guest guest
Hello Everyone, My husband and I have been vegetarians for years, but until now we have not paid enough attention to the amount of protein in our diets. Does anyone have any information regarding from what source (food, vitamin, etc.) one can obtain the protein necessary for maintaining muscle that one usually gets when eating meat? Or, is anyone aware of resources where this information can be located? Also, we met another person who has successfully lost a lot of weight using an Adkins-type diet; does anyone know of a diet similar that vegetarians can use to lose weight? Thank you in advance for you input. Best regards, Jane
Guest guest
Jane, Several years ago, a similar diet that increased the amount of protein was The Zone. I know that they came out with a Soy Zone. Maybe you can take this one and tweak it. Guest guest
A word of caution: excess protein in the diet hinders your absorption of calcium. This is especially important for women (osteoperosis) and especially to vegetarians, who have fewer calcium choices at hand than do carnivores. Make sure you don't neglect your calcium if you do choose to increase your protein intake.
