To solve the monkey menace in Delhi, the court in 2004 had ordered translocation of 250 to the Palpur Kuno sanctuary in MP and the state was paid Rs 25 lakh for keeping the monkeys. Recently, the court directed MP to take further 300 monkeys but the state is finding it tough to take them. Balance disturbed The state told the court the ecological balance has been disturbed and the locals in the forest area are attacked by the monkeys. Not only that, even dharnas are held to stop the Delhi monkeys. Above all, the MP government has demanded Rs 26 lakh for keeping the 250 monkeys sent earlier. The Supreme Court is likely to take up the issue soon.
