Guest guest
Thursday July 12, 2007-The Star ACA detains wildlife officer By NELSON BENJAMIN JOHOR BARU: Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) officers detained a wildlife officer and a police inspector in two separate cases over the past few days. Both the suspects have since been released on bail. The latest arrest was made on Monday when the ACA acting on a tip-off arrested a wildlife officer, in his 50s, at about 10pm at his home in Kampung Melayu in Kluang. The officer, stationed in Kluang, is believed to have demanded RM500 from a businessman for the return of four birds, which had earlier been seized during a raid. It is learnt that the businessman had put the birds on sale using a licence belonging to someone else. ACA caught the officer red-handed and recovered the money and the four birds. The officer was later released on a RM5,000 bail.
