(IN): Ivory seized in transit at Guwahati airport

Guwahati: Thursday, April, 19,2007

 

Officials of an airline cargo detected a packet which was carrying an

Ivory ( whole piece ) of about 1.8 kilograms bound for Kolkata from

Guwahati.

 

The agent of the courier company and its manager have been detained by

the Azara Police station, Guwahati and the Ivory has been seized.

 

It may be noted that the Ivory which was fresh cut was booked

under " motor parts " from Tinisukia, a town in upper Assam by road

cargo and was in transit in Guwahati. From Guwahati it was to be

booked by air cargo to Kolkata.
