Guest guest
Hello, my name is Melanie and my boyfriend & I live in Northern California, USA. We have two adopted, rescue dogs and one rescue we are fostering. My boyfriend Armand, right after Hurricane Katrina drove his truck with donated medical supplies from Northern California to Tylertown, Mississipi USA where he volunteered at Best Friends shelter for about 3 weeks. After he came back we decided to rescue a dog to make room for Katrina animals. We found our first dog through a local organization, AHAN (ahan.org). We saw her little bio online, fell in love and we did not find out until after we decided to adopt her that she was in Taiwan. We decided to take the gamble and adopt her and we are very happy we did. We have been working quite a bit with AHAN and trying to find more foster and permanent homes for the dogs of Taiwan/AHAN. They have been great and really worked hard to make sure it was a good fit between us and our adoptive dog. We moved, bought a bigger house and adopted another dog from AHAN. Our 2nd adopted dog Pancake, was cared for and rescued by a lady (Ms. Wu) who has a dog yard with her rescue dogs at the school where she teaches. The principal of the school will not allow the dog yard to continue when she retires, very, very soon. All dogs not adopted will be euthananised. There are about 22-30 dogs in the dog yard. It seems a shame all these dogs will get put down .. they are all healthy, friendly, good, adoptable dogs. We are fostering one but I`m afraid AHAN doesn't have the resources to find foster/forever homes for the rest of the dogs in time. Does anyone on this forum have any ideas how we could buy more time so we can find foster/forever homes for these dogs in the US? Thanks in advance for reading. Warm Regards, Melanie Freeberg
