Guest guest
International Day of Protest Against the Japanese Dolphin Slaughter Dear friends and colleagues: Japan Dolphin Day will take place on Monday, September 24th this year. It will be held at as many Japanese embassies and consulate offices as possible. The goal is to make this the biggest global protest against the Japanese drive fishery in history. If we do it right this year we won't have to do it again next year! To pull this off, we need tens of thousands of peaceful protesters in front of Japanese embassies around the world. We are asking you to contact your membership and your member societies and ask them to show up too. We are hoping that everyone who reads this message will be willing to participate. It's very important to contact your members, family, and friends, and bring them with you -- ask them to contact their friends too. If only a few token staff members and volunteers show up for Japan Dolphin Day 2007 we will have failed. Please note that this will be an all-inclusive event. In other words, the protest will not take place under the umbrella of any one group. The event will be carried out by all of us, on a equal basis. Each group represents itself and will contact the media in their city with their own press release. All participating groups can be listed in the press release in alphabetical order. As a first step, we are trying to identify what kind of cooperation we can expect from the international environmental/animal welfare community. If you and your organization are willing to participate in this important global event, please contact me and I'll start by putting the list together. We have some specific ideas as to how to make this a success -- any new creative ideas are welcomed. We will share these ideas with the list later. And please remember: the goal is to make this event huge, effective, and memorable. If we get it right this time, Japan Dolphin Day 2008 will be a celebration. Come on folks, we can do this!
