Guest guest
Look what I found! www.GentleThanksgiving.org makes nice little postcards. After my last posting I started getting all obnoxious and trying to be optomistic because we all know the saying laugh and the world laughs with you, cry and you cry alone! I wanted to start a list of things that are positive because I think it has more of an effect. people are really callous and they don't care! We can be thankful that Vegetarian is possible at all! For the Ancient Inventors of Tofu For Rachel Carson! Pass it on..... And, you won't believe this. I'm in the lbrary and someone that I occasionally talk to just came by and said " what are you doing, putting those things around? (the post card) I just put them in the trash can " What a world. robin koloms <rkoloms wrote: Since just before Columbus day, my daughter's social studies class has been reading excerpts from A Peoples' History of the United States by Howard Zinn. Even my " enlightened " friends think of it as a holiday to be thankful and be with family (most of them will contribute to the cruelty and killing of turkeys - and think nothing of all those Thanksgiving preschool and early ed projects where a picture of a live turkey is used). I can only imagine the horror people would have if the Nazi's had instituted a Thanksgiving to celebrate the exterminations and Germans were celebrating it to this day! We are, to say the least ambivalent about this kind of holiday. As soon as my daughter is old enough we'll trek to Plymouth for the day. Right now a quiet day and walk in the woods sounds good. Guest guest
Oh that's awful that someone would take them down and put them in the Trashcan. My daughter's 2nd Grade class is reading " A Turkey for Thanksgiving " - that's something to be thankful for.
