1. FROM THE DESK OF HONY. GEN. SECRETARY:

This month we received lots of calls for animals in distress due to heavy

rains. Some suggestion to protect animals from rains are:

a) Provide cooked food for the colony strays in a shaded, dry area.

b) Make a shade for them to keep away rain water. Provide them with a gunny

bag on which they can sleep or rest and can keep warm and dry.

c) Starting this season get all area dogs/cats sterilized so that they won't

come on heat & fight among themselves

d) Get as many animals vaccinated against rabies & others.

e) Always keep telephone numbers stored with for any animal emergency. In

rainy season lots of hit and run cases are reported. Also birds and snakes

will calls are aplenty. Just keep numbers of NGO's and Fire Brigade handy

with you or else call us on 9820161114 - we have the list of contacts in

your area.

Yours for Animals,

Nilesh Bhanage

2. SOME NOTABLE FIELD CALLS:

# PAWS office received a call from Ms. June Rosario of Nalasopara who was

being opposed by her Housing Society for feeding strays. PAWS immediately

wrote a letter to the concerned authorities opposing dislocation of

dogs. The matter was solved after PAWS intervened.

# On 23rd June, a fifteen day old abandoned kitten was reported to PAWS

office. The kitten is now being taken care by Secretary Nilesh & his wife

Manasi. The poor kitten was taken away from its mother simply because of

lack of understanding & love for animals.

# On 25th June, PAWS volunteer Kunal Chheda found a huge barn owl bleeding

from a leg injury. PAWS secretary Nilesh gave it first aid and then shifted

it to Thane SPCA with the help of Sonali Bagde & Trustee Anuradha

Ramaswamy. That owl is now recuperating at Thane SPCA Animal hosp ital.

3. DONATION IN KIND:

PAWS is thankful to its Trustee Ms. Brinda Upadhyaya for donating us a

beautiful Snake Grasper which she purchased from USA during her visit this

month. The grasper was ordered on line by Brinda's daughter who studies at

the US .This grasper is good for handling snakes and available only in

USA. Nilesh has been requesting many to procure this grasper but only

Brinda and her daughter, who are on a vow to rescue and rehabilitate snakes

took this up seriously. The grasper is useful in rescuing wild snakes that

enter residential areas specially in the monsoon.

We are very grateful for her kind donation.
