Guest guest
Thanks a ton for those answers ! Now I hope some people do understand why i had pressed the panic button. It only takes a few years of continuous living in a city to understand what we can expect from the government and 25 years in Bangalore I think is long enough for me to understand that if we dont act, we are invariably giving up the dogs for sacrifice. And as mentioned in point 2, if the ABC rule is done away with, any hopes of stabilizing an eco system will be lost! All the work done by the various orgs till now will go waste let alone the money invested into it (an approx of 5 crores in the last 5 years) And the point 3, as far as I have seen from past cases, forget long term, only 5% of the illegal meat shops will be shut down and that too as Eillen mentioned, temporarily! If the situation is downplayed now, things wil be back to square one in the next week or so! So its upto us to keep up the pressure and I urgue all the others to keep the pressure on the government and the civic authorities and capitalize on the present situation for a long term benefit for both us and the dogs! Guest guest
Dear All. I am very sad to hear about the issues affecting dogs in Bangalore and hope that things work out for humans and animals. Between 1996 and 1998 I was travelling to Bangalore from Hong Kong a lot on business. I remember the SPCA in Cubbon Park and visiting their head quarters in the suburbs. A friend of mine (a resident of Bangalore) adopted a street dog and she turned out to be a loving companion. Many of the street dogs are beautiful dogs and only need kindness. I have a girl from Hong Kong who we adopted from the SPCA who was a street dog and has tuned out to be the most sweet and intelligent companion. She now lives with us in Perth Western Australia. I have heard that the Asian street dog-(from India to China) is the basis for our dingo (the Australian native dog). They often look the same with the pointed ears and the colouring. The dingo is clever and if domesticated is an affectionate companion. However, knowing how the millions of dogs barely survive on the outskirts of the world's cities would you as a dog (wolf) come in from the forest or the desert to sit by that campfire? Hoping for some sort of positive outcome.
