Dear colleagues,

Today the Press Trust of India has published a

report on a candle light protest held by journalists in New Delhi on Friday

against the dog slaughter in Bangalore. I have a copy of the news item and

the picture as an attachment file and would gladly share it with anyone

interested to see it. I think it should be an eye opener for those who have

been constantly attacking journalists and saying they are not proud of their

journalistic past in the wake of the dog killings.

Best wishes,

I do not feel that people have been accusing the ENTIRE press force of

irresponsibility. Just those guilty of it.

One is so heartened to read of the candlelight procession in Delhi, but then -

back to Square One - why was it not extensively covered by the press?

That's the point. The photographs of the dead child and the most damning article

possible is in India Today, for all to see and exclaim over, but not enough

people are brave enough to give equal coverage to the other side....if the press

is against it, please let them use media space to cover the issue with courage

and clarity (the HT editorial, for example).

Just a point of view,

Devika

It would do more good if instead of hitting out at the biased news and

media reports and agencies, instead we thank those who stood by with

the animal people, voicing concern for dogs and hitting out at the

authorities who ordered the killings. Not sure how many of us watched

NDTV though. Maya Sharma and her team has done commedable coverage.
