Guest guest
To His Holiness the Dalai Lama, When you take up a position like yours in which you are a role model to millions your behaviour needs to truly inspirational and above reproach, it just goes with the territory I'm afraid. If the job is too difficult and you cannot control your behaviour that causes animals to suffer (i.e. eating meat and animal products) and, due to your own weakness you can no longer insist on the virtues of living a cruelty-free life to those other monks who are also weak and can't give up meat (even though the requirement of not hurting another sentient being is one of the cornerstones of your religion), then please at least have the moral fibre to admit it and step down. Allow a truly strong and compassionate person to be the living embodiment of a beautiful religion that you are currently sullying. Can you not see that you tucking into veal is just as outrageous and disrespectful towards your religion as would it be for Pope Benedict to go to prostitutes for sex? You've heard the expression, if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen. Please, you are turning both your religion and yourself into a laughing stock for the sceptics of the world, and for those of us who listened when you told us all to be the change we wish to see, and are struggling to make the right choices, your huge hypocrisy makes us both sad and angry. Nikki Green Hong Kong PS I am also disappointed that you don't have the compassion and broadmindedness to accept homosexuality for the reality that it is, and to try and challenge your own sexual prejudices and encourage others to do so too.
