2. SOME NOTABLE FIELD CALLS:

# This Month the PAWS Ambulance rescued over 17 Dogs with maggot-wounds,

injuries and accident victims. We also got 32 dogs sterilized through KDMC

& IDA centers. These dogs are being cared and fed by our volunteers Prasad

Phadke, Lakha Lodaya, Sherlyn Menon, Mira Desai, and Ram Bhatle & Trustee

Anjali Ekbote.

When PAWS received a call from Jitu Bhai of Karuna that a pair of Japanese

Turkeys had been rescued from a housing society where they were tied on a

short leash, PAWS volunteers Kunal Chheda and founder Nilesh went with

Karuna staff to Ramnagar police station, from where they were sent to

Thane SPCA by PAWS volunteers Prasad, Kunal, Nilesh & Kishor. They are fit

and recovering here.

# PAWS Office received a call from a Journalist about some stray dogs being

burnt alive in Bhiwandi Dog Pound. PAWS office immediately contacted

Advocate Kishore Jain who , inspected the kennels & sealed them. A police

complain was lodged against the Sterilization contractor. PAWS Office

followed the case with Nijampur Police Station & also wrote a strong letter

to the Superintendent of police to convert the police complaint into an

FIR.

Apart from the above, PAWS Ambulances have been busy helping injured

stray animals every day. In year 2006-07 over 1200 stray injured animals

were picked-up from the streets by PAWS. Our fuel cost goes more then 20,000

per month.
