Guest guest
Dear Naresh, The FCRA procedure is a very strict one. You do not receive general clearance to start with. First someone has to make you a grant offer or a donation offer from abroad. That offer must come in an official communication. Then you ask for the FCRA application form (you should ask your auditor and if you do not have one, you will need one as strict account keeping is the only way to get FCRA or tax exemption!). Then you apply for PRIOR PERMISSION stating that X has offered you a grant of XXX to do (state the nature of the work - rescue, treatment, abc, building a shelter, etc). You will be investigated (I am at this stage). Once you receive prior permission (which comes from Delhi), you can accept the stated amount. Later, after seeking prior permission a couple of times, I believe you may apply for general permission which means you can receive foreign cheques anytime. This does not happen overnight and also trying to get funds through other FCRA registered organisations is not the way to do it as you could get into trouble - many have!
