Chinese women pet a moon bear in a cage during a

promotion activity in front of the Yangjiaping

Wal-Mart supermarket on September 30, 2006 in

Chongqing Municipality, China.

 

Wal-Mart held a 4-day live show which allowed 10

females to stay in a cage with a moon bear. The winner

will be awarded with 10,000 yuan (about USD 1,262).

China's government intends to boosts the economy

during the Golden Week holiday season which lasts from

October 1st to 7th.

Following Wal-Mart tradition in community involvement,

the store donated RMB 200,000 to Chongqing Wildlife

Association to support the reproduction, adoption and

rescue of Huanan Tigers (China Tigers) prior to the

grand opening. In cooperation with the Association,

Wal-Mart will develop some educational events to call

for public awareness of wildlife preservation.
