Guest guest
Dear Sirs/Madams, As animal advocates and thinking citizens we absolutely feel the need to express our opposition against the measure of killing every stray dog in Bangalore. We express at most our sympathy to the families of the two dead children but exterminating every dog in the region not only consists an appaling and inhumane action of brutality but also offers no solution to the problem. If people are not being correctly educated on these issues (that is to be compassionate but also responsible towards animals, especially as animal owners) and if appropriate programs of mass sterilisation and vaccination of stray dogs are not carried out instead of killing them, then no one can wait for a permanent solution to the problem, for the present dogs will be soon replaced by another. The appropriate informing of people is also of great importance, as long as it presents the reality and truth. Panic is never a good consultant and atrocities like massive killings of animals are not expected to characterize a country like India, whose tradition and religion for many people represent the peaceful coexistence of all forms of life. The world is expecting from India much more civilised solutions, if the country does not want its reputation to be permanently spotted. With best regards, Maria and Katerina Nika, Animal advocates from Greece
