Dear all,

I received this mail from a German colleague who has just returned from

there.

There are about 2000 dogs living in miserable conditions. The king, it says,

knows nothing of these conditions - he himself owns an Ex-stray by the name

of " Tongdaeng " - a statue of whom stand by the entrance of the shelter - and

has appealed to people in the past to adopt strays.

Doubtless the shelter has no interest in making the plight of the animals

known to him or the public.

So these images were taken without knowledge of the shelter, and the letter

sent by another colleague from abroad - so as to not endanger the activist

on location.

The king pays 100 Baht per dog and week, but that money lands in private

pockets, and is not used for the animals, as the photos show (more to come,

also high-res.)

The press so far (even the German) has not responded or shown interest in

the issue; if anyone has another idea, please let me know.

Misarable condition of dogs in the shelter in Hua Hin, donated and under the

royal patronage of His Majesty the King

May, 29th 2007

Dear Ladies,

dear Sirs,

on April 2007 we have visited with a couple of friends the dog shelter in

Hua Hin near to Wat Khao Ittisukhato whitch was set up in 2002 under the

royal patronage of His Majesty the King.

We were really frightened and shocked about the misarable condition of the

dogs in this area. They were complete in a very bad condition, mostly full

of parasites, emaciatedly, thin, skinny, wounded and allover hungry.

We wondered also that we cannot find anyone who cares for the dogs although

we have visited the shelter on 2 following days.

We took some photos of the situation on site you can see below.

I hope it is interesting for you to report about the condition of a dog

shelter which was donated by 4 million Baht by His Majesty the King!

Maybe the condition of the poor dogs can be improved in the future.

If you are not interested in this problematic, please inform me as soon as

possible that I can send the photos to other newspapers.

Hope to here from you soon,

PS: I think it is a shame for Tongdaeng (look photo Hua Hin 5)
