Guest guest
Wounded dog dies-Malay Mail - 26 Jan 2006 by NURRULMUNA MOHD ALI JENNY was driving home in Damansara Jaya on Jan 2 when she spotted an injured and under-nourished German shepherd wandering aimlessly. Jenny took the dog, nicknamed Kiki, to a veterinary clinic but was told it was too late to save him. The vet told her that Kiki had skin cancer and a close examination revealed bumps and lumps all over his body. " I'm shocked to find out that he not only suffered from skin cancer but also transmissible venereal tumour, " she said. Transmissible venereal tumour (TVT) is a tumour affecting the external genitals of canines and is transmitted during copulation. Jenny said that Kiki had a gaping wound on the neck and it was infested with maggots. There were two other wounds on Kiki's body, one under the armpit and the other on his inner thigh. " The vet said that Kiki had an owner. He was treated for skin cancer at the same clinic sometime ago but his recovery was slow, " said Jenny. " Kiki was apparently confined at the back of a workshop and a few days later, was seen wandering in the streets. " Kiki died the next day at the clinic.
