Parks for dogs sunshine sunshine <sushi_ahlu Thu, May 10 2007 11:01:19 AM +0000 Cc: <azamsiddiqui I reside at in Greater Kailash 1. I own an alsatian .There are two parks across the road .Earlier one was only for children and humans - dogs not allowed. Now the second park where I take my dog for exercising has also has a notice put up by some member of the association " dogs not allowed " .This is not fair on the dogs ,stray and pets who are shooed off.I am also perturbed at the number of parks( i previously lived in Alaknanda) with gates being locked to keep out stray dogs.It is inhuman to keep dogs out of parks, especially in this heat .Dogs also lick grass .Please help.My mobile number is 9811111860 Regards, Sushil
Guest guest
I would like to share the views expressed by Director of ' People for Animals ' India Smt Ambika Shukla on the SOS from Mr. Sushil on Dogs not allowed entry into parks, I think most of the Indian cities and towns are facing the same problem : Continue to take your dog into the park. The association cannot block parks arbitrarily. Dog owners have not been consulted. Put up notices in the colony asking other dog owners to contact you. There is Ajai Shukla in C-131 GK-1, Tel : 9810517236. Rope in other dog owners and confront your association. If there is a lawyer among you , file a PIL. Ideally , parks are meant for dogs and children. Wherever you see a park gate locked , open it, breaking the lock if necessary. Parks cannot be locked up , they are by definition open public areas.
