Guest guest Posted April 3, 2007 Report Share Posted April 3, 2007 Cow gores man to death in Patel Nagar Hindustan Times NEW DELHI, India NEW DELHI, India, March 31 -- A 26-year-old man was mauled to death by a stray cow in West Patel Nagar on Saturday morning. The incident took place at around 7 am in the Faridpuri area. The deceased has been identified as Govind, a resident of Sultanpuri. He was a rickshaw puller and was waiting for passengers at the roadside when the incident took place. Two cows were fighting in the service lane in Faridpuri and after a few minutes one of the cows attacked the victim standing nearby. " The cow attacked him and grievously injured him, " said a police officer. The victim was rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital where he died later in the day. A call was made to the police and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) authorities were also informed. " As soon as we got a call the veterinary officers were rushed to the spot. The cow was ferocious and we had to calm it down with a tranquilizer. After that she was removed to the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Hospital in Tis Hazari, " said Deep Mathur, spokesperson, MCD. In February 2006, two persons including a woman had been mauled to death by a stray bull in the Preet Vihar area of east Delhi. One of the deceased, Chanan Ram (65), was on his way back home when the stray bull attacked him outside his house near Baldev Park.
