We are delighted that the full Bench of the Supreme Court of India have

this morning, July 27, 2007, granted a stay order against jallikattu,

the barbaric torturing of bulls under the guise of culture!

The Bench consisted of Chief Justice K. G. Balakrishnan, Justice

Ravindran and Justice Tarun.

I must place on record the determined efforts of the Animal Welfare

Board of India, and especially Gen Kharb and Dr. V. N. Appaji Rao, in

this case.

Senior Advocate, Mr. K. K. Venugopal appeared for the Board ably

supported by Mr. Sunil Jain. Most noteworthy was that Mr. Venugopal's

services were pro bono.

We are even more delighted, since we have just launched our

anti-jallikattu campaign, Culture without Cruelty.
