Whalers deny green group's warship claim

Japanese whalers say a claim by environmentalists that Japan is preparing to

send a warship to the Antarctic to protect its whaling fleet is a publicity

stunt.

 

The warship claim has been made by the Washington-based Sea Shepherd

Conservation Society, whose ship, the Farley Mowat, is in the Southern Ocean

targeting the whalers, along with Greenpeace...

Aussie scientists to study minke whales

While the Japanese whaling fleet continued its hunt for more than 930 minke

whales in the Southern Ocean, Australian researchers sailed for Antarctic waters

on Monday to record for the first time the songs of the minke.

 

More 60 scientists from 12 nations, including Japan, are taking part in a $7

million Australian led research voyage aboard the Australian Antarctic

Division's Aurora Australis...
