Could you please crosspost this to your groups? It would be so wonderful if we could get people to visit these dogs to give them some love, they have had such a terrible time and must be so lonely during the week. If anyone could offer homes that would be even better! Much love KB I went to visit some rescued dogs from Sri Lanka yesterday. The poor things had been dying on the streets. . One was a 5 week old puppy found on a rubbish tip. It was being pecked at by crows. They are in 6 month quarantine in Chingford at the moment. The place is horrible. Each dog has an indoor run about 10 feet long. It has concrete floors which are sluiced down once a day. They are not allowed out of these runs at all so never get a walk for the whole of the six months. It is barbaric and totally unnecessary. It makes good money for the kennel owners. The saddest looking dogs are the pets which have been brought to England from all over the world. There was a tiny little poodle from the USA. It was so miserable. At least the Sri Lankan dogs are three in a run so have each other for company. There was a man and woman from Iran who had prepared their own food and were feeding their dog. They were extremely nice. Not all Muslims are cruel to animals. The kennels are closed on Sunday to visitors and have very limited opening hours during the rest of the week. There should be open hours in the evenings and on Sunday so that people who are working can visit their animals. Here are some photos I took yesterday. The woman sitting on the floor is having the dog which she is holding. She is the smallest and was the one pecked by crows. She is going to visit every Saturday until the dog is released in June. The dogs are very subdued and just want attention and cuddles. The story of how she managed to get them out of Sri Lanka is very interesting. It took a lot of work dealing with some very corrupt officials. Homes are desperately needed. They come out in May. We have enslaved the rest of the animal creation, and have treated our distant cousins in fur and feathers so badly that beyond doubt, if they were able to formulate a religion, they would depict the Devil in human form. ~William Ralph Inge
