Guest guest
Thank you all so much for the kind concern and prayers for Rinki. Surprisingly it is day seven since that unfortunate accident which left her paralysed, and still no NGO has enquired about its welfare, either by sending a representative or by enquiring about its welfare. Her condition gets worse as every day progresses. I spoke to the guardian/ owner in the morning today and her said that the mosquito net was still not made available, but he has been told that the Vets shall carry out an ultrasound and X-ray test on Rinki ( today being the 8th day after the accident, and 5th day of stay at the Veterinary Colle and Hospital premises ). The students of Veterinary College have raised a paltry fund to get a waterproof sheet so that a shed can be made above the elephant at night to keep away the dew. I am just not sure, how many days this poor soul has to cry through in pain till she is finally put to sleep. I strongly feel that Rinki is being made a scapegoat to conduct unhealthy and unnecessary medical tests. But then I am not a Vet, so my views and comments have no impact on this Medical fraternity. With barely two months left for the 'Kaziranga Elephant Festival', which is held for the conservation and protection of Asiatic elephant in Assam, this is what elephants in reality are made to go through.
