Guest guest
Dear All, Yet another blow to animal rights. This time it was not a Cartier sponsored event but Tag Heuer and the Taj group of hotels did the needful, along with its royal ambassadors from Bollywood. This time they managed to do it in the capital if India, New Delhi. I will shortly upload the news video of the event which took place yesterday. This time the Bollywood superstars including the King of Bollywood, Mr Shahrukh Khan and the following were seen enjoying the elephant polo match: Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Rampal, Chunky Pandey. Guest guest
*Dear Azam,* * As we discussed on Monday, the aim of the campaign has always been to bring as much information on this issue to the public forum as possible. I feel the elephant polo sponsors list on the website needs to be updated to include all sponsors of this game, including Cartier and Tag Heuer and also a list of people who are patronizing the spectacle. The stance of Advocates For Animals seems impressive since they have given a press release and engaged the media, always a good thing. If all the opposing organisations could write to all the sponsors then that would alert them. Mainstream media alerts too have to be constantly given.* * The total list is available at **http://www.thaielepolo.com/sponsors.htm*<http://www.thaielepolo.com/sponsors.h\ tm> * . There are 16 on the website presently and the others should be added. A google search will reveal the contacts of each one of them. Letters should then ideally go out formally from all the organisations that have oppposed the game to all these firms asking them to refrain from participation in elephant polo. Concerned individuals are of course welcome to voice their feelings. I also expect that the law will take its own course in Jaipur in favour of the elephants.* * I have also told Kisorda about Rinky and he is working on the elephant issues in North Bengal and Orissa(Trains mowing elephants and elephants getting electrocuted). I do hope to have more details from him in due course.* * It does seem apparent that the Jaipur event has been successful enough to encourage similar circus like events in India, a fear that was expressed by everyone who opposed the Cartier match. A tournament is coming up in Sri Lanka and I am posting the details separately. There seems to be no evidence that these matches are being specially monitored by animal welfare groups.* * I am also trying my best to obtain a copy of the film 'Behind the Mask' and it would be good if it could be screened in Madras. If that is not possible, we must watch it together. Animal Liberation Front deserve a platform to voice their opinion as much as anyone else and it is nice to note this film has given them one.* * I hope this helps but if there is any other way in which I could help, please do call or write. I hope you are enjoying your holiday.* * Best wishes,* ** * * On 12/4/06, azam24x7 <azamsiddiqui wrote: > > Dear All, > > Yet another blow to animal rights. > > This time it was not a Cartier sponsored event but Tag Heuer and the > Taj group of hotels did the needful, along with its royal > ambassadors from Bollywood. > > This time they managed to do it in the capital if India, New Delhi. > > I will shortly upload the news video of the event which took place > yesterday. > > This time the Bollywood superstars including the King of Bollywood, > Mr Shahrukh Khan and the following were seen enjoying the elephant > polo match: > > Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Rampal, Chunky Pandey. > > Azam Siddiqui > > >
