Hi! I'm Lisa, Mom to Leif, 3.5, and Winter, 17 mths. My family and I are

vegetarians, leaning towards veganism, (we eat no dairy, but still dabble in

eggs) and I'm only starting to begin the raw food journey by myself at the

moment...I'm not sure 100% is for me, but I know I need to be way more then

50%!!!

It is calling to me, but I am still at the beginning of this journey! I'm

going to have to do a lot of work to give up on coffee and bread, which are my

two major addictions! I'm also still breastfeeding, so I need to be careful

not to flood my breastmilk with toxins by doing it too fast!

So far, I'm attempting to just add things into my diet while

making sure other things don't slip into it. I'm removing sugar, and any

processed foods, I'm making sure to up, up, up my raw food intake, and I'm

starting

to make sure I bring a dish or two to every celebration I attend! This weekend

will test me,. as I have a bbq and my own birthday party to attend!

I'd like to make a raw cake for all to enjoy, however, almost all the

recipes I see include walnuts and/or carrots, and my husband is allergic to

both! (actually, crazy as it seems, he has no issues with cooked carrots, but

raw ones make his mouth itch and burn!) .

My other question involves small children who just won't consume raw

veggies! Right now I make smoothies and juices... fruits are eagerly gobbled up

around here, but I have to usually " hide " a lot of veggies, (kale is usually

hidden in smoothies, juices, or tomato sauce!) How do you begin to transition

kids to raw if they won't eat the veggies at all (phase I hope, my son USED

to eat everything I gave him!) ?

My kids also LOVE LOVE LOVE their whole wheat toast with earth balance

vegan " butter " spread... anyone have a fave recipe for " toast " that kids will

eat?

One more question for anyone patient enough to read this! I don't have a

dehydrator, but I do have a toaster oven that goes down to a setting of 100

degrees... although not perfect, has anyone attempted to try this as a

stand-in until they could afford a dehydrator?

Sorry for all these intensive questions! Thank you all for any and all

help!

Lisa
