Guest guest
sasan and gir national park has many roads that pass through them. i very oftenly pass through these roads where people not only take the outside villager to spot lions throw stones, run behind them. most of the time they are the sarpanch(village head's)family members.you can easily pick them while entering from dhari village and leave them at the next gate which is about more than 15 kms stretch.you will invariably come to a lion pride at the temple of tulsi shyam.hundreds of pilgrims throw stones and the protectors are the villagers. howmany times i have stopped and asked people not to get down the vehicles and been threatend by the villagers also confronting me. this has been brought to the notice of the other end but WHO CARES? also during the diwali you can give 10 rupees to go through the protected roads. complaining only means that the authorities will not allow you to come anywhere near if they know in advance that you are going to be there.this makes sure that people alike us do not enter the park when the authorities ears standup with your name.there is no petroling on these roads where a lion is a easy prey for poachers.tickets issued from one gate clearly state conditions but no one cares. not a single vehical is checked or stopped.i have reported this many times to people in charge but no one has even cared.today times carry a report that two lion cubs were chased in a unmanned well by some vehical. the tyre marks were found where the cubs were drowned in the well.lions in sasan national park are regularly chased with the help of local villagers. the villager also told me that they are capable of killing the lion with one blow if they attack. there was nothing i could do except report which falls to deaf ears.the road is only main link to the union territory of DIU from gujart where hundreds of tourist pass each day. snehal
