New Delhi: Heard of a Fast Food corner for dogs? In Kerala, Dog

Biriyani or ready-to-eat-meal for dogs is becoming increasingly

popular among pet owners.

Thanks to the scrumptious platter, the canines have turned especially

fond of Venugopal—the man who calls himself ''kennel chef'' and

delivers dogs their favourite food.

The `delicacy for dogs' business is doing pretty well in

Thiruvanathapuram. Each day the number of ''pet customer'' are

increasing says Venugopal who is also the owner of this unique

business. He says he supplies about 100 packets of `dog biryani'

everyday and expects to sell more very soon.

Venugopal was an x-ray welder at the Cochin Shipyard. He started this

one outlet and now seeing its success, he plans to open a hotel very

soon exclusively for the canines.

''First let this business become steady and then I would go for a

hotel exclusively for dogs. Every day a new customer calls me and I

think the people in Thiruvananthapuram have accepted this,'' he was

quoted as saying.

When asked how he ventured into this business unknown so far, he said

''it all started when I could not give food to my own dog at the right

time. I realised that others would also be facing the same problem.

After I talked to a few families who have dogs, I thought, why not

start a fast food just for dogs?''

''After the idea struck me, I did a market survey for three months and

talked to families who had pets. It was after this I realised that it

would be a good venture,'' he said.
