Guest guest
Guwahati: This time it was not innocent human lives that bore the impact of bomb blasts by militants which is a common things here in Assam, instead it was dozens of birds, which included egrets, crows and other common birds who were charred in a car bomb that expoled late last night. The bomb was a PTD ( Programmed Timed Device ) which was kept in a maruti 800 car near a temple at one of the crowded localities of Guwahati city called Fancy Bazar to target innocent human lives. As it was parked at a NO PARKING zone the car was towed away and brought to the area close to the local Police station was then parked below some tall trees which are used by the local city birds as shelter. The programming of the bomb which security officials believe was wrongly done as 3.00AM instead of 3.00PM. The impact of the blast fortunately could not take any human life as it was midnite, but for the dozens of birds it was nightmare of all sorts. Some died on the spot, some are still dying. Feathers burnt of, eyes blinded. It was a gory sight as one reporter described who went to the spot in the morning. The car which was reduced into bits and pieces of metal and sheets if the car were found wrapped onto the trees nearby I do not know if any animal care organisation has rushed to the rescue, because at the time of filing this report I am in the airport and about to catch a flight to Imphal. I hope Ms. Sangeeta Goswami, chairperson of PFA ( ASSAM ) gets this information and some help reaches out for the injured birds.
