The project, a part of the International 'Hands-on Science' network, will study the status of wetlands in various countries. Children from schools in India, Portugal, Spain, USA, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Argentina, Bulgaria and Greece will be working together to study the wetlands and life species surviving there. They will then try to find out if there are any endangered species and share this information online. The Delhi Public School (DPS) and the Manthan Educational Programme Society (MEPS) will be taking the initiative for the project in the city. MEPS Director Abhay Kothari says, ''DPS-Ahmedabad, is the only Indian school in India selected to participate since it has the necessary resources.'' He adds, that the project aims at creating awareness about the dangers facing the ecology today. 'Hands-on Science' is an international network that concentrates on improving the way Science and Technology are taught in European Schools. Project Co-ordinator at DPS, Monita Dash reveals plans to rope in various other institutions in the city for the project. She says, ''We will be seeking help from institutions like CEE to gather data''. She adds, ''Everybody keeps talking about globalization and how harmful it is for the ecology. This will give students a chance to be part of global concerns related to ecology. Stressing on the importance of students being educated about ecological problems, DPS Principal Sunil Trivedi says, ''I think the project will help broaden their horizons, as well as give them a chance to interact with students from other countries.''
