I watched the " American Experience " program called " The Living

Weapon " on PBS last night. The subject was the early days of

biological warfare development. You can view the program on-line at

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/weapon/index.html or purchase a copy.

You can also read an abbreviated transcript.

Viewers saw the horror story of the anthrax sheep, and there are

plenty of monkey shots too. I hope overseas people fighting the

primate trade can see this. Right now we are seeing a big increase in

biological warfare experimentation in the United States which has led

to the growing demand for monkeys which is unfortunately being met by

some nations for which a monkey is an object of trade not a living

sentient being.

There are also horrific shots of the biowarfare experiments conducted

on Chinese human beings by a Japanese team led by a man called Ishii

who got off scot-free as well as all his entire research team, in

contrast to the fate the Nazi war criminals tried at Nuremburg, many

of whom, including medical doctors, were hanged. Shirley McGreal
