Guest guest
_____ Rosa Mertens Sunday, March 25, 2007 10:58 PM Rosa Mertens OUR LETTERS TO CHINA WORKED!!!!! Dear all, Regarding the Wanzhou dog culling, Mr. Chen, President of Chongqing Small Animal Protection Association told me that so far no new killing has been found - except for the first day -Mar.16. He and his volunteer team estimated that almost 30 homeless dogs were killed with billy and knives (one volunteer's back was chopped at but no danger) and about the same number of homeless dogs were rescued by Mr XXXX and his team. I respect them a lot for they've been thus far and won't leave until the whole cull is completely over. So in brief, I think your letters worked a lot indeed! You all know about how many dogs were killed in Yunnan Muding and Shandong Jining last year. Compare with that, Wanzhou is much much better. We'll work with other animal rights groups in China to work out a pre-warning solution: next time when something similar happened, what shall we do? what can we do? is that possible that we can do together instead of as individuals or a single group? We're thinking of organize a China Animal Welfare Protection Union or something like that. And your help and support is really important - because the government more or less will have to consider the " international influence " of the event. So please save all your letters and signings. All of them can be used next time - just need to changethe title of the city, county or province's name. ------ This is part of the latest email I got from China, and I would like to point out a couple of good things: ------ 1) OUR LETTERS TO CHINA WORKED!!!!! It looks like the dog culling was a lot less disgraceful than they were claiming it would be! YAY!!!!! BIG THANKS to all who wrote to the Chinese government! 2) I have been encouraging my contact in China to think about expanding her work and involving more animal groups so they can become a stronger voice, and this may be happening...!
