Guest guest Posted December 20, 2003 Report Share Posted December 20, 2003 * Exported from MasterCook * Maple Glazed Tofu Recipe By :Soy Sisters Serving Size : 4 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Main Dishes Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 pound Midwest-Harvest firm tofu 2 large garlic cloves -- chopped 1/4 cup soy sauce 1/4 cup orange juice 2 tablespoons roasted peanut oil 1/4 cup maple syrup 1/4 cup chopped cilantro 3 tablespoons vegetable or peanut oil -- for cooking Drain the tofu, cut it into the shapes and sizes you desire, set on paper towel and blot well. Combine the next 5 ingredients in a measuring cup. Heat a large nonstick pan or electric skillet to 350 degrees and coat with the oil. When oil is hot, add the tofu and cook without disturbing until crisp and golden, about 5 minutes. (The tofu will stick immediately, be patient, it will release when a crispy crust has formed.) Turn and cook on the other side, adding more oil if necessary. Pour in the marinade and stir to coat the tofu. Reduce the heat, cook until the sauce is thickened and the tofu is glazed. Don't let it cook so tong that it gets sticky. Add the cilantro just before removing tofu from skillet.
