Troubled by disappearance of the green cover in the concrete jungles, Satyasheel Naik has turned all his time and attention to birds and bees. In his garden he has put up over 100 artificial nests. " I have jungle maina, Grey Tit, owlets, pigeons, bees, Magpie, Robin and many other birds. I used to go to far off places to photograph these birds. But then realised why not build homes for them? " said Naik. In the last five years more than 40,000 trees have been felled in Pune. And Naik says someone has to think where the birds will go? Naik's nests now have become more than a fashion. Taking a cue from him, not just animal lovers and conservationists, even the Pune Municipal Corporation is putting thousands of artificial nests in public gardens across the city.
