Guest guest
Well, well, then I know... Thank you, Sharmaine, for informing about this. I 'm driving a petition since several years for another chimpannzee - Ola, raised in Sweden. He was sold to Safari World in Bangkok twelve years ago (he is around his twenties today), and experiences somewhat the same fate as the cheeta you mentioned here. Luckily enough(!), he has some female company. I and other " friends " of Ola's have carried a misbelief - that Safari World was an exception among Asian zoos regarding isolation and mistreating of animals. Apparently, it is not. Even if you cannot draw any conclusions from ONE other story, I get the feeling animals are commonly treated this way in all Eastern Asia... I hope there will be some way for friends of animals to raise their voice against this kind of zoos. My petition has collected some thousand signatures, but I 'm afraid it 's not enough to make the zoo listen to us. I wish I knew what more to do... /Liselotte, Swedish animal activist ( www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/343545023 ). PS) I 'm horrified from the story of the elephant - elephants are the most " used and misunderstood " gentle giants... /DS. >sharmaine ><info%40aapn.org>info (AT) aapn (DOT) <info%40aapn.org>org > >Hello. > >I am wanting to report to you an account of cruelty I witnessed whilst >holiday in Phuket, Thailand >i..............................................................................\ .... .................................................................................\ ................................................. >Whilst at the zoo, I stumbled across an unmarked enclosure, a small concrete >pen no bigger than 8 feet x 5 feet, surrounded by thick wire.
