Dear AAPN,

Recent media reports state that President Hu Jintao has called for a

ban on culling dogs nationwide following the reactionary slaughter of

thousands of dogs in response to rabies fears over the past few

months. Whilst it doesn't end the slaughter of millions of dogs and

cats used in the meat and fur industry, it is nevertheless a positive

start.

Please click here to see an open letter of thanks to President Hu Jintao:

Here we offer further recommendations and our help in the hope that,

ultimately, this will see an end to the slaughter of all dogs and

cats nationwide. You can also read about the work that we have been

doing behind the scenes in the light of the Beijing crackdown on pet

dogs.

If you would like to join us in thanking the President please send

your letters by snail mail to:

President Hu Jintao

Chinese Communist Party

Yongdingmenjie

Beijing 100032

PRC

Snail mail is the most effective method of communication as emails

inboxes quickly fill up and bounce back.

Thank you for your voice - it continues to make a world of difference

for the dogs and cats of China.

Best wishes,

Jill
