Try this: * Exported from MasterCook * Portobello Sauce Recipe By :serene Serving Size : 4 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Sauces Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 4 tablespoons butter -- divided 3 tablespoons flour 1/4 onion -- diced 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon black pepper -- or to taste 1 portobello mushroom -- or more, sliced 1 cup milk In a small saucepan, saute the onions and mushrooms in 1 tablespoon of butter and the salt and pepper until most of the moisture evaporates and the onions are starting to brown. Meanwhile, cook the flour in a small frying pan in the rest of the butter over low heat, until it just starts to get golden. Add the milk to the onions and mushrooms and heat until almost boiling, then add the flour mixture and stir constantly until it just begins to boil and thicken. Pour over your favorite cooked pasta. (I also like this just on toast if I don't feel like making pasta.)
