Guest guest
Dear All, I'm a lurking very newbie. I am a total lacto-veg. working on becoming vegan. 'Spyglass Baitzman',John, wanted to clarify if fish is a meat. To add confusion , it depends which part of tht world you live. Totally vegetarian coastal dwelling people in India consider fish fruit of the sea and eat it. So,John ,you'll have to decide for yourself. I have found an easy way to enjoy foods that are otherwise considered non veg , I leave out the flesh. I even do it with any baked thing calling for eggs except , of course , you can't have a soufflé or certain pure egg cakes. I don't use protein substitutes but suppliment more veggies. Everything tastes fine. The varieties are a pleasant surprise to my non-veg friends. You never feel that you're missing anything. Hope I have not strayed from the subject too much. That's very interesting. I'll try to remember to ask my Hindu vegetarian friend from coastal eastern India (Gujarat) about that. It could lead to a good discussion. Thanks for bringing it up. According to East Indian (Vedic) belief fish is considered less than a plant in the consciousness development (you know, the lower consciousness the less pain). I don't understand how but I respect that belief. Mamta Gupta wrote: >I have found an easy way to enjoy foods that are otherwise considered >non veg , I leave out the flesh. There is an egg substitute based on soja that I found in biological stores in Germany. I tried it out when baking birthday cakes for my children last year and basically you didn't see or taste a difference. Peace, Iwona
Guest guest
Scientists have recently proved that fish feel pain. What more can I say - fish is an animal - it has a face, a brain, a heart. What vegetables have faces, brains and hearts.
