Guest guest
Hi, I've been a member for a few days now, sorry that it's taken me so long to introduce myself, I've been a bit under the weather lately. I'm faith, married 4 years to my dh Bob. I'm not a vegetarian, though I rarely eat meat and/or meat products. My husband has been strugglilng with high cholesterol and high blood pressure for several years, and although I've tried to fix meals that are more suitable to his diet restrictions, his test results showed that the medication and diet restrictions were not helping to lower his cholesterol or blood pressure. During the last visit to the doctors, our family doc told Bob, if he did not make some drastic changes in his life, he would be dead within 5 years. That did it for me. I knew hubby wasn't trying to change his eating habits, and to be honest, I'm tired of nagging him about what he should and shouldn't have. (He knows which foods he's to stay away from, but if I didn't cook he would deliberately choose foods he KNEW were not acceptable!) I decided to start cooking vegetarian meals, which was not easy at first - especially since my husband believes the five food groups are hamburger, pork chops, organ meats, ham and steak! I've needed to find recipes that would be very filling and full of flavor or I'd never be able to get my husband in the no-meat frame of mind. I believe I've done well so far -- I enjoy cooking and trying new recipes and I'm not afraid of spices, (which helps when cooking). I'm hoping to learn some food techniques that will help us lead a healthier, meat-free life, as well as make some friends along the way. I have a lot of recipes to share -- some I've gathered, some I've created on my own. I look forward to meeting you all! Many blessings, faith
