As far as I can tell, the people made the title up for the promo. I even searched Google and found nothing. I even searched Google and found nothing. This isn't a recipe per se, but I have sprayed a little olive oil on baby carrots, sprinkled with some salt and minced fresh rosemary, and grilled them. Takes maybe 10 minutes (watch them and keep turning). Works with squashes and eggplants too, but they take less time, because I've usually sliced them up. But we've done that recipe before (sorry this won't be in MasterCook format) Option 1 Soak in a bucket of salt water for 15-20 minutes before you throw the carrots onto the grill. Option 2 Brush on Olive Oil (not a cooking oil) Both assume a 375 - 400 F barbecue, cooking until the carrot is lightly charred before rotating. If you place them on the grill at an angle and roll them rather than turning them, you will get a nice pattern on the outside of the carrot. This takes more space on the grill though. Guest guest
It isn't named Carrots on the Barbie, but it sounds like about the same thing. I haven't tried it but it sounds pretty good, so I may give it a try next time we grill. Pam By the way, for those of you that are asking questions about the Mastercook program. This is the real beauty of the program. I have been a r to this list for years. Since most emails that come into the list contain a recipe I can just export all the emails to a text file and import them directly into my Mastercook recipe book. Then I have to do some sorting since I want them to be in certain categories, but over the years I have accumulated a massive library of recipes so that anytime I want to make something I can do a search and find something at least close to what I want to make. For something like this, there is a function to Email a recipe which exports it to the format you see here and I can share it with friends and family. It is a really great program and I have tried most of the others. I also maintain a separate cookbook that are just the recipes that my family and I create and use regularly and we keep a printed copy of those recipes, but I can put a copy of those on my kids computers as they move away from home so they can still cook those family favorites. Just my 2 cents. * Exported from MasterCook * Basic Grilled Baby Carrots Recipe By :The Vegetarian Grill by Andrea Chesman, page 23 Serving Size : 4 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Vegetables - Carrots Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 pound baby carrots 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil OR toasted sesame oil Coarse salt SERVES 4 Grilling carrots is a superior way to prepare them. The heat of the fire caramelizes the natural sugars in the carrots, giving them a crisp exterior. I like them slightly undercooked, but you can let them cook a bit longer if you like them soft. 1. Prepare a medium fire in the grill with a lightly oiled vegetable grill rack in place. 2. Scrub the carrots. Toss with the oil to coat well. 3. Grill the carrots, tossing frequently, until tender and grill-marked, about 10 minutes. The carrots will char if you don't pay attention. Remove from the grill when they are soft enough to your liking. 4. Place in a serving bowl, sprinkle lightly with salt to taste, and serve hot. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Per Serving (excluding unknown items): 103 Calories; 7g Fat (62.0% calories from fat); 1g Protein; 9g Carbohydrate; 2g Dietary Fiber; 0mg Cholesterol; 40mg Sodium.
