first: in the world of e-mail, all-caps is considered shouting. I don't

need you to shout at me.

second: this is so far off-topic for this group I don't know where to

start. We've been fairly off-topic with the veg-chat that I think it is

time to resurrect that list, but this should not be discussed at all.

third: consumer purchases of fuel are not a large enough percentage of Oil

company revenue to make a difference. If you want this to work you need to

convice oil-burning utilities and companies not to buy (or more correctly

use..see below) oil on that day.

fourth: if everyone didn't purchase gas on one day, but stocked-up the day

before or the day after it wouldn't make a difference in this " stock-pile " .

The only way to make a difference is to get out of your petroleum-product

using vehicle for good. Ride your bike, walk, take public transportation,

or car pool. If you have to drive a petroleum-product using vehicle, buy

smaller, more fuel efficient vehicle, drive in such a way as to not waste

energy (less braking and accelerating, turn of the A/C, maintain a fuel

efficient speed, etc). Not buying gas one day isn't going to make a

difference, not using gasoline may make a difference.

fifth: this e-mail message, or a variant of it, has been around since 1999

<http://www.peanut.org/mike/text/gasprice.htm> and the price of gas has

only gone up since then. If GAS OUT had worked in 1999 or 2000, we would

have seen a difference in prices then and we didn't.
