Guest guest
Hi, FYI, this is an old hungarian recipe called Kaposztas Kocka. My grandmother always made it without the cheese - and I would actually recommend it that way. The most important thing is to be patient with the cabbage. It tastes better when its well browned, but it takes a little bit of time. -eve Veg-Recipes , j.peake@i... wrote: > Hi all, > Here is a very simple, but surprisingly yummy way to do pasta. It was inspired by watching an episode of Jamie Oliver's TV show, but has been developed by my husband to meet a low point value for weightwatchers. So, if you don't care about the cheese content, add more - possibly double the amount - for extra flavour. The number of servings depend on you. It serves us as a main for two. > > Happy eating. > Lynn > > > * Exported from MasterCook * > > Pasta with Cabbage > > Recipe By : > Serving Size : 2 Preparation Time :0:00 > Categories : > > Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method > -------- ------------ -------------------------------- > 90 grams pasta -- (any kind) > 1 teaspoon olive oil > 1 onion -- finely chopped > 1/4 cabbage -- shredded > 30 grams parmesan cheese -- grated > garlic -- optional > > Cook the pasta in boiling water. > Saute the onion in the olive oil until translucent in a frying pan. Add the garlic, if using. Add the shredded cabbage, cover until the cabbage softens slightly. Uncover, turn cabbage/onion mix until very lightly browned and cabbage is soft but not soggy. > Drain the pasta, reserving some of the cooking liquor. Add to the cabbage/onion mix and stir through. Add parmesan and mix again adding reserved cooking liquor if neccessary to get a creamy consistency. > > Source: > " Jamie Oliver " > > - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - > > Per serving: 279 Calories (kcal); 8g Total Fat; (24% calories from fat); 13g Protein; 39g Carbohydrate; 12mg Cholesterol; 286mg Sodium > Food Exchanges: 2 1/2 Grain(Starch); 1 Lean Meat; 1 Vegetable; 0 Fruit; 1 Fat; 0 Other Carbohydrates > > NOTES : Inspired by Jamie Oliver's TV show. > Approximate total Weightwatchers points 6.25 > Add more parmesan for a creamier texture. > Nutr.
