Would appreciate any veggie/vegan restaurant suggestions, particularly any really good ethnic ones with a veggie selection. San Francisco is extremely vegetarian friendly, so you can usually get something decent at any type of restaurant. I have eaten at all of these and recommend them all! Ananda Fuara is good, but hard to describe. It's run by some kind of religious order that focuses on meditation. The food is great, Americana style. You can get things like vegetarian beef stroganoff, and a multitude of other great stuff. I'm sure they have a website, as do some of the others that I suggested. Golden Era is all veggie Chinese with every kind of fake meat dish imagineable, plus all the regular veggie type dishes. Hope you enjoy, Katja I am going to SF in two weeks. It isn't cheap, about 17-20 dollars an entree, but so nice, even with organic alcohol. Ilene, Haven't been, but have both cookbooks from the Millenium restaurant. Vegan haute cuisine, wonderful stuff! Also have a cookbook from Greens restaurant; more yummy stuff. Both of these are probably on the higher price end though. In any case, if you go here http://www.vrg.org/restaurant/index.htm and chose California, then SF, it will give a list of restaurants... enjoy, and tell us where you went when you get back!
