Guest guest
Hi Marie ~ Did you end up making any resolutions? I wrote a list of goals for the year rather then resolutions. This helped me focus on what it is that I really want. I don't do deprivation very well either but I'm also trying to figure out what foods set me off to eat more so am avoiding a few things to check my theory out. I hope to start hitting our farmers market again as I've been lax about going. Even better deals there on fresh stuff than at the Co-op! Thank you for your words of encouragement. It has been rough but I am starting to focus on what I want and need rather than dwelling on other people or the past. Doesn't happen every day but it's getting a tiny bit easier each day. Your approach of breaking the journey down into small manageable steps is great. Focusing solely on the end of the journey can sometimes make the distance and effort seem unachievable. I love the idea that so many of your strategies include things to look forward to such as walks with the dog, pampering bubble baths etc. I'm sure the reason than many of my previous attempts to finally shake my excess weight have failed because my brain was programmed to feel I was being deprived. I don't do deprivation very well!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!! You are right about cooking from scratch being more economical. We are also on a very tight budget and I am constantly looking for ways to save on food costs. One of the most striking examples is the difference in cost between buying tinned/canned pre-cooked beans, chickpeas etc. and cooking your own. Even with the cost of fuel included, the cost of the home cooked ones is around 10% (maybe even less) of the tinned/canned ones. Congratulations on all you have achieved so far and best of luck with your continued success. You are still really positive after such a difficult six months. I'm confident your attitude will enable you to achieve your goals. Good luck and please keepm us up to date with your progress. Cheers from Marie
Guest guest
Resolutions and that stuff? Yup - to get even healthier - and to lose 6 pounds that somehow got stuck where they're not wanted As for personal stuff, I have vowed to take things a day at a time, not let the idjits get me down, and to stop dwelling on what was, what might have been and what is way in the future. In other words, I'm trying to live in the now. So far so good, but hey it's only 1-1/2 days, eh? Cindi, you're doing great. We're proud of you, girrrrrl!! Guest guest
Hi Pat ~ That is my focus for the year; being present in the here and now and working on myself. Thanks for the encouragement! Guest guest
Thanks Pat. I think the only " stop " or " quit " I wrote was about releasing my anger with the ex. And that's a good thing to give up for my well being. And I love resolutions that aren't negative (like stopping doing stuff) but are positive and make me feel good about just deciding to do it. With this focus of yours - living in the here and now and working on oneself - making the decision brings you more than halfway there! Good luck.
