Actually, the toast provides a nutrient to feed the yeast which make

vinegar. You might try a gf toast slice, to see if it would work. But I

would not count on it floating the whole time (Gluten containing or not).

I don't see what other food the yeast would need when it's feeding on 5 lbs of

sugar (lol) but you could be correct. My family never used the toast and this

was the first I heard of it.
