Guest guest
Hi Robin, I do not drink Alcohol, but I do love grape juice and apple juice which I buy sugar free. It is just the fruit that is in it. I also drink Diet Rite, yes I know it has an artifical sweenter, but I do not drink it all day or even every day, and it is a nice treat. Hope that helps, Amy - Robin Wednesday, June 28, 2006 6:31 AM frustrated and tired Hello everyone, I know there has been lots of talk about alcohol in this group and which ones are gluten free. But, my big problem is sugar (the kids are gluten intollerant) I've gotten really tired of just drinking water or tea when I go out with my friends. I had a cooler last week (ok, it was actually 2), what a huge mistake that was, I thought that my system could handle it as I haven't had any sugar for such a long time. Sugar makes me tired, bloated, hazy and worst of all makes my skin a nightmare! My face is now covered in acne and my exzema has fared up something awful (itchy, painful, it splits open too...gross). Does anyone have any ideas as to some sugar free alcohol drinks? Maybe wine? Is sugar added to wine? Maybe some kind of cocktail, one with out too much juice (I can only drink small amounts juice too)? Any help is appreciated. Robin.
Guest guest
hi robin, i to am sugar sensitive. althou not as serious as you. i drink a good white tequila. yes, tequila. it is harvested from the agave plant which is sugar but it is a sugar that my body can handle. most if not all alcohol is fermented with sugars so this puts wine out unless there is some out there being made a special way. i drink it on the rocks with lime but i think a nice way to drink it is with water. or fresh lime juice and little club soda. good luck and let me know what you find out. kathi --- Robin <TREFFRRO wrote: > Hello everyone, > I know there has been lots of talk about alcohol in > this group and > which ones are gluten free. Guest guest
hI! I have a friend who has similar problms with both sugar and fruit and she takes chromium - apparently this helps to regulate sugar levels in the blood and even out any side effects that sugar has. It doesn't mean that you can go ahead and gorge on sugar-laden things obviously (!!) but she highly recommends it. hugs, GeorgyGirl - Robin Wednesday, June 28, 2006 2:31 PM frustrated and tired Hello everyone, I know there has been lots of talk about alcohol in this group and which ones are gluten free. Guest guest
The sugars in alcohol are processed differently by the body -- in fact, it can drive blood sugars down in a diabetic, rather than up, and should be consumed with food to temper the effects. The club soda or other mixer used, tho, will bring BG levels up. > > i to am sugar sensitive. althou not as serious as > you. i drink a good white tequila. yes, tequila. --- [This E-mail scanned for viruses by Declude Virus]
