Welcome

to the group, Michelle - and congratulations on losing all that weight

in the last year. That's fantastic! No wonder you're 'hooked' on

vegetarianism :)

I have also read Skinny Bitch and would

heartily recommend it to anyone who wants to lose weight or simply

learn how to eat in a healthy vegetarian way. I admit I was doubtful

when I first heard of the book - crazy title and all that - but it does

an excellent job at motivating people to give up the stuff that harms

them as well as harms the animals and environment. Splendid job.

(Anyone who hasn't seen it should see if they can borrow it from their

local library - it was certainly in ours.)

And good for you for

helping your girls towards a vegetarian lifestyle. I know some people

think vegetarianism is something kids 'choose for themselves when they

grow older' (a bit like political parties), but it seems to me that, if

you know something (eg. animal flesh) is harmful and that avoiding it

is healthy, then it makes good common sense gently to persuade those

minors entrusted to your care towards the less harmful way as early as

possible. (Think drugs, for eg., right?) And of course there's also the

respect for life which I think we all try to teach our children :)As I

say, good for you and good luck with that.

Please write in often - would love to know how you are progressing. Do you have

more weight to lose???

Best, Pat (Co-owner with Cindi)

RE: File - Questionnaire for new members

VEGETARIAN SLIMMING QUESTIONNAIRE

Please tell us a little about yourself so we can know

you a bit better:

To get you started, why not tell us:

* your name or nickname: Michelle

* where you live (continent, region or city, whatever): Oregon

* your age group - teens, 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s,

70s, 80s or more (congratulations!)?: Late 20's! (I am 29 years old)

Also:

* Are you vegetarian (or vegan), still working at

it, or still thinking about it? How long? Working on becoming a vegetarian since

Jan 1st

* Are you the only veggie or wannabe in your

household? How many others?: I am the only one but working slowly on getting my

2 girls to go vegetarian

* Do you do the cooking or is it shared?: I do all the cooking so right now we

will be doing 2 meals

I am a single mom with 2 girls (who are 5 and 7.) I have lost over 70lbs since

Feb of 2008 and looking to make

myself much more healthier. I

read Skinny Bitch that introduced me to being a vegetarian. After reading just

2 chapter's

of that book I am ready for the change!

If you'd rather tell something in your own words rather than replying

to this questionnaire this is OK too. But in either case, please

I know, I feel like a wuss when I complain about it being cold here in

California and my online friends in Wisconsin & Minnesota just laugh and laugh

at me. :-)

We were in Arizona in November, and were laughing at my husband's

cousin's

family, who were cuddling up with blankets, putting little hats and mitts on

the children, etc. We had to sleep with the window open . . .
